Emerson Multimedia Center

The Emerson Multimedia Center is funded by a grant from the Emerson Electric Company.  There are three workstations and additional equipment available for the students.

Two of the workstations have HP scanners and are capable of scanning documents as PDF files or images using Adobe Acrobat 7 and Adobe Photoshop CS 2.  There is also an 8250 scanner availble which is also capable of scanning slides and negatives.  The workstations are further specialized for different purposes as follows:

Multimedia 1 This is a basic scanning workstation, with Adobe Photoshop 7 and Adobe Acrobat 7, for making image and PDF files via the HP 8270 scanner.

Multimedia 3 (Mac, dual monitors) The Mac G5 Video editing machince has I-movie and Final Cut Studio Pro 5 for video editing and Garage Band or sound manipulation and editing. This machine is also capeable of DVD Creation through iDVD.

There is no charge to the students for using this equipment.

Additional Equipment:  

Large Format Scanner/Printer (800ps) Our section is equipped with a 42" scanning machine. This machine can scan and duplicate large format media with high precision.

Large Format Printer (1055cm) The 1055CM Printer is a large format printer manufactured by Hewlett-Packard. This printer is capable of printing on a 36" (3') wide roll to a nearly unlimited length.

Large Format Laminator The laminator is fitted with 38" rolls to laminate material up to 36" wide. The cost is $4 per foot (36"x12") of lamination.

Digital Video Camera
A Canon Optura 60 DV camcorder is availble to check out to students, staff, and faculty for $5 a day. Mini DV tapes are not provided. Download the manual for the Canon Optura 60. (4.5mb pdf)

Color Printer
There printer (HP Business Inkjet 3000) can be used to make color prints for $0.50 or color transparency prints for $1.00.

Color Copier
There is a small color copier (HP Digital Copier 610) that can make double sided or single sided copies.  It is an inkjet and copies are 50 cents each.

Laser Printer 
There is a laserprinter in the section which is free to use. All of the computers in the Multi-Media section are able to print to it.
